In the spring of 2005, Jonathan McBee was putting together a benefit concert for the Humane Society of Morgan County. Gordon MacLeod and Bob Wurster, formerly of Flash Gordon and the Rockets, were interested in putting together a one time band for the benefit concert. Jonathan was really interested in playing bass for them and called Richard 'Blinkey' Hopkins to see if he would play drums.

The quartet started jammin' out 50s rock songs. Around that time, a country singer was interested in them as a backup band for that same benefit concert. The band started working on classic country and hillbilly music, too.

That one time appearance led to a gig here, a party there, and lots of jammin' in between. They've since built up a vast repertoire of many genres including rock n roll, hillbilly, country, rockabilly, doo-wop, Motown, surf, classic rock, and other great music of the latter 20th century.

2007 marked the addition of lead and backup vocalist, fiddler and tambourine virtuoso Angela Petry. In 2008, Blinkey left the band and the area to pursue his dream. (Rock on Blinkey!) Rock veteran Mike Marzullo was quickly recruited as a replacement drummer. These additions have taken the band in new artistic and energetic directions.

The Flashbacks play a wide variety of styles from masters like Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Smokey Robinson, Carl Perkins, Buck Owens, Johnny Cash, Elvis, Patsy Cline, etc. Even a few great classic rock pieces from artists like ELO, ZZ Top, The Rolling Stones and more. The Flashbacks offer music that appeals to appeals to young and old alike. The dance floor comes alive when the Flashbacks step on stage and crank up the music.
